Off the Beat is a series of lessons investigating the style of Reggae. This style of music is being used a lot by many of the latest Pop artists and it becomes a relevant topic of study. In this series of lessons, the students will be looking at the roots of Reggae, the musical layers and compositional style and techniques as well as the current Pop artists. This particular series of lessons are designed for Years 6—9 but could be adapted for Year 10. It can be taught as a stand alone series or included in a current course of work.  Off the Beat is divided into two sections—Teacher Lesson Plans and Student Handouts. This resource also comes with an additional Classroom Arrangement Pack for ―I Got You Babe.  The student handouts are marked as ―Photocopyable Masters and are allowed to be photocopied for students or placed on an electronic whiteboard for display to the students. Desinged for Grades 8 – 11.
