Description
This package is designed for Senior High School Students studying the style of Debussy and Impressionism. The book is divided into three major sections. The first section of this package contains programming information, scope and sequence and the Assessment task, all with adaptations for the different states within Australia. The second section is the Teacher Resource. This contains the program of study with all answers and support materials. The third section is the Student Booklet, which contains the student worksheets, internet links and supplementary material to complete the activities. The focus of learning is the musical concepts and compositional devices used within Impressionism, with major focus on Debussy’s compositional style.

Activities have been devised in Performance, Musicology, Composition and Aural to develop an understanding of the style. Assessment will take the form of a performance/musicology task with an additional submission of the composition portfolio and process diary. The majority of the class time, however, is spent integrating all of the learning experiences. To allow students to benefit from teacher feedback in the final stage or outcomes of the package, the assessment task has been placed towards the end. The task will be based on the compositional devices used within this style. The book includes a CD with all the recordings needed to teach the topic.
