Hey guys, Welcome to this weeks new podcast – Music from 1900 – 1945. It’s only a brief overview of the time period that I like to call “the isms”. I offer some general information about the time, along with a lot of discussion about musical concepts. I discuss melodic and textural elements in relation to the “isms”. I also talk about how to apply this information to the question “How is the melodic material treated?”. On the PDF, there are notes from the podcast, including two tables. One table has a list of the musical concepts with justifications for their use and the other table has a small list of composers of the time, complete with their nationality and their preferred “ism” – Like Debussy – French Impressionism.
This podcast is really aimed at music students but it is a great one to use in a flipped learning style approach. There will be a video of this podcast in the future.
